Children's Hospital & Research Center at Oakland

The needs of a children's hospital are unique from that of a general critical care facility. We frequently experience requests from our patients, their parents and staff that we attempt to fulfill to the best of our ability. We rely on our Closed Circuit Television to deliver health education, pain management, relaxation, orientation, as well as entertainment.

Allen Technologies has proved a valuable partner and adept at meeting these challenges with creative and technically solid solutions. Whether addressing the development of a "Relaxation Channel" for comfort for our youngest or most in pain patients or the ability for a live hospital-wide television broadcast of our weekly bingo game, Allen Technologies has been resourceful, generous with their time and successful in the delivery of reliable products.

Children's Hospital and Research Center has enjoyed many years of attentive service and looks forward to the installation of their latest technology to enhance the patient experience and staff function.

Elmendorf Air Force Base, AK

As you can imagine, at a military hospital situations can arise unexpectedly that require immediate response. We needed a system that could rise to the occasion and a company that was willing to accept the challenge and think out of the box.

Here at Elmendorf we are mandated to initiate and complete "Military Special Training" for the entire staff, to be accomplished within a week's timeframe. The training information has to be in a readily digested format, accessible by all, and available 24/7 regardless of shift work.

Allen Technologies' team of experts took the time to listen to our issues and designed a solution to address our needs.

To facilitate the process and reduce turnaround time, Allen developed a "plug and play" application. They set us up with an encoding studio to take the training from a video and make it into an mpeg file and instituted a customized menu system that automatically accommodates new training programming.

A military base must have the capability to operate independently of outside vendors. Allen Technologies provided what we really needed. We appreciate their efforts and look forward to a continued relationship.

Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

Allen Technologies has maintained a presence at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for over seven years. During this time we collaborated making great strides in developing and implementing many interactive services. Our system is primarily based upon delivering video on-demand (VOD), and allowing in-patient pay-television activation via the pillow speaker (remote control).

We, with ATI's professional expertise, have developed the video on-demand feature into an effective and focused patient education program with a core of 60 plus videos and expanding with requests for new content. The network tracking and reporting capability of VOD usage allows us to pinpoint areas of patient concern. The VOD technology has allowed HUP to better meet the needs of our patients by providing customized in-house produced programming, such as the patient welcome video.

HUP had a specific need for service and contracted with ATI to provide a technician for 40 hours per week to repair and service all televisions, ensuring that they are on-line and able to provide interactive services. Allen Technologies' technical team and 24-hour support has more then once "saved the day" with its availability when needed to troubleshoot and/or assist with new menu screens and to provide general maintenance.

Overall, I am very pleased with the Allen Technologies system and would recommend it as a reliable interactive network for a healthcare provider. We will continue to utilize our ATI system, while working with Allen Technologies to install new interactive technology and services as they develop.
