Education Rx

The cornerstone of the VIGO Interaction System is a comprehensive set of prescribed patient health videos delivered via a network application called Education Rx.

Education Rx supports nurses by offering an accessible, dynamic and flexible system for accommodating the educational needs of patients and their families. Designed with the clinician in mind, Education Rx facilitates the education process by minimizing effort and maximizing effectiveness. The Education Rx patient-focused beside library of hospital-approved education videos is conveniently categorized and titled in patient-friendly language with helpful descriptive title summaries. As such, it meets JCAHO requirements for patient and family education.

A web-based application, Education Rx, is easy to set up. There's no software to load. Just add the shortcut to the PC desktop, enter the user name and password and the system is ready.

Education Rx features include:

  • Set or change individual user names and passwords or simplify with default preferences
  • Order and edit prescribed health videos
  • Customize education specific to the needs of the individual
  • Sort videos with the categorized content database
  • Facilitate locating titles with keywords and the search feature
  • Streamline the selection process with the "quick-pick" feature
  • Set patient viewing reminders with any of the three alert options
  • Track patient viewing through the HL-7 interface into the hospital ADT
  • Deliver prescribed education regardless of patient transfers
  • Review patient ongoing viewing
  • Print viewing reports individually or for groups

Patient Path

Patient Path eases the patient's entire hospital experience, from pre-admissions through in-hospital care through discharge and beyond. Patient Path allows hospitals to offer patients services including:

  • Pre-admissions ordering of TV/telephone rental, guest food trays, home health products and services, gift shop products and services, new baby photos and DRG/ICD9 and disease-specific education services
  • Customized welcome from the hospital CEO
  • Review of hospital rules
  • Advanced care directive rights and related information
  • E-mail communications with physicians
  • Customized discharge planning and home health instructions

VIGO On-Demand offers patients a variety of amenities including:

  • Patient surveys
  • Interactive patient education
  • "Tour Your Room" overview
  • In-hospital shopping channel for ordering sundries including fruit baskets, kosher meals, gift items, pharmacy products and more
  • Premium television channels
  • Telephone services
  • "Talking Books" audio versions of popular books
  • Sponsor provided interactive education and health information

Pastoral Care Channel

The Pastoral Care Channel provides on-demand video and audio religious programming for patients and staff addressing the Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist and Baha'i faiths.

Relaxation Channel

The Relaxation Channel provides scheduled and on-demand relaxation programming, comforting music, breathing exercises, environmental images/sounds and tips for relaxing with humor. The channel also instructs patients in a variety of relaxation techniques.

Hospital Shopping Network

The Hospital Shopping Network allows patients and visitors to use the in-room television to make purchases from the hospital's gift shop. Similarly, the Virtual Hospital Gift Shop on the Web lets friends and family order gifts and sundry items from the Hospital's Gift Shop with delivery directly to the patient bedside.

Housekeeping Manager

The Housekeeping Manager module allows hospitals to keep track of patient rooms that are waiting to be cleaned and audits the time spent in each room by housekeepers.
