Putting the Never Back
into Medicare Never Events
Vigo's Helping Hand for Patient Safety
The concern for hospital patient safety jumped to new heights in 2008 when Medicare's Never Event policy went into effect. Medicare no longer reimburses hospitals for the treatment of preventable injuries occurring in the facility. States are beginning to consider the same non-payment policy.
The hospital staff must make every effort to continually educate the patient. The Vigo Interactive Patient Communication System can play a significant role in the point-of-care receipt and comprehension of instructional videos and information.
To decrease the frequency of medication errors, the Vigo OneTouch provides an optional bar code scanner; enabling clinicians right at the bedside to quickly match the medicine with patient's wrist band and medical record.
